Hm. My rust chunks are usually smaller and flakier, and taste kind of sulfur-y.

In all seriousness, we have discussed moving because the teacher pension system is so badly screwed up in Illinois, but I have no idea where we’d go or how I'd make a living . Hard to get a teaching job when you're 13 years in, and Masters +45.

The crown vic does this regularly and has for years. At some point it’ll run out of rocker and pinch weld and stop dropping material, right?

The proper response here is not to pick up the chunk of truck , but rather to kick it under somebody else’s vehicle .

Then it’s their problem and not your’s.

New Mexico is always hiring teachers, but the pay stinks here. The consolation is warmth, lack of rust and a cheap cost of living.

Maybe that was just some extra truck you didn’t really need.

You could always come to Ohio! Our teacher pensions aren’t completely FUBAR and our teacher pay isn’t a total joke.

Oh wait, we abolished public education in favor of “ charter” “ schools.”

Well you could go work for a “charter” “school” of course. Their staff make millions of dollars a year since the company rakes in billions from taxpayers.

Unless you don’t know one of the owners.

Then you’d make more working at Walmart.

But at least there aren’t any students either.

And hey, it’s not like you have to worry if they get shut down by the state for fraud. They’ll just start up under a new name again.

You remember my Jaguar right? The whole passenger floor pan and transmission tunnel was made of that. You should have seen my driveway the day I brought it home.

I did have my Jag mechanic weld in a new floor and patch up the worst of the rest. Of course that was a bit expense …

Taos (and Santa Fe) are about the only expensive to live areas of New Mexico. In Santa Fe, relatively few people that work there can actually afford to live there unless they bought a house before the 90's.

It’s not. It’s not even a little bit.

This is what is actually fucking happening in Ohio. Click the links. That’s just scratching the surface. Most “charter” “schools” will only hire ‘TFA’ victims and fresh-out-of-college kids, adjunct basis, less than $15 per hour. There are absolutely no salaried positions. It’s all adjunct hourly.

The average public school teacher salary in Cleveland, Ohio is about $59k.

The average “charter” “school” teacher salary is about $36k.

See for yourself:

https://www.glassdoor.com/Salaries/ohio-elementary-school-teacher-salary-SRCH_IL.0,4_IS2235_KO5,30.htm

Every single one of the Charter school positions is half the public school salary for the same position and area.

But who will we get to completely and utterly destroy everyone involved in this shitshow then?

Seriously. Seizing the assets of all these criminals is not even a good start. There needs to be deaths for what they have done to society and education. A lot of death. Their shit has set society, education, and research back at least five decades if not a full century.

Think I’ll just not worry about the rest, it’s not too bad and I avoid driving it in the wet so hopefully it won’t get much worse. Otherwise it’s been running really well and I’ve put almost 8000 miles on it. Will roll over 100k pretty soon.

I have a feeling you likely take good care of your vehicles.

In reality though, I see plenty of early 2000s Mazdas around here that still look great, so it doesn’t really surprise me.

I take reasonable care of my vehicles, but I don’t go crazy. I try to keep them washed in the winter, and I do my routine maintenance on a reasonable schedule . I just don’t beat the crap out of them.
